It’s every single’s favorite time of the year: Valentine’s Day. A wonderful day where all couples rub it in people’s face. Here’s a list of things to do instead of moping around on this very special day.
This is one of my most favorite things on the internet. Entertaining you for hours and a great thing to get your mind off of all the couples having a nice night. Some of my personal favorite shows are Gossip Girl, Parks and Recreation, Orange is the New Black, Doctor Who, Arrested Development, and Psych (all-time favorite).
For those of you Parks and Rec fans, pull a Leslie Knope and celebrate Valentine’s Day with all of your gals. Although technically Gal-entine’s Day is on the February 13th why not meet up a day later. Gal-entine’s Day includes breakfast/brunch, gifts, and either funny or romantic stories.
Frozen, Gravity, That Awkward Moment, and The Lego Movie (not quite sure on this one) are all great movies in the theater currently. Whether you go with friends or family or by yourself (more popcorn for you) it will still be a fabulous time. Though I would recommend not seeing any romantic movies because there will most likely be many couples in the theater therefore will not help you escape Valentine’s Day.
Referencing Georgia and I’s previous article on holiday gift ideas, you can find a lot of different Do It Yourself crafts that’ll entertain you for hours. A great website for inspiration/instructions is Pinterest!
Possibly one of the most spent time on websites around the world. You can literally find anything on YouTube. Some of popular channels include PewDiePie (for gamers), Jenna Marbles (girls can especially relate to her), and NigaHiga (just plain funny).
Read a book. It’s something that will always benefit you and a way to gain more knowledge. There are endless possibilities of great books out in the world ranging from romance to sci-fi to realistic fiction to mysteries to non-fiction.
Cuddle with animals
Not everybody is an animal person and that’s completely fine (no it’s not). However for those of you who do enjoy animals, go cuddle with some. If you don’t have any pets then go out into nature and find a fluffy squirrel.
If you find yourself like Cher from Clueless, then going on a shopping spree could improve your mood. Don’t just spend money to spend money, but treat yourself to a nice outfit.
After eating a healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner then why not bake a little dessert? Possibly brownies, cake, cookies? However make sure that this is not something that happens every night. As an Ann Richards girl you want to maintain a healthy and well-balanced lifestyle. For the sake of couples on Valentine’s Day feel free to make chocolate chip cookies for your enjoyment (if you lack baking skills ice cream shall suffice).
One way to effortlessly to improve your mood AND entertain yourself for hours is taking selfies. Every teenager is guilty of selfies so don’t try to deny it. Take ugly, pretty, silly, weird, crazy selfies. Share these beautiful selfies via Snapchat (my favorite app).
Teach yourself something new
Nobody knows how to do everything in the world but you can be one step closer by teaching yourself something new on Valentine’s Day. This could be a foreign language (try learning Finnish) or possibly an instrument. This really could mean anything so do something you’ve always wanted to try but have never had the chance!
Board games are filled with endless possibilities of fun. Beware that playing games like Monopoly can get ugly and end in tears. Though other fun games include Clue, Chutes and Ladders, Pretty, Pretty Princess, and Life.
Knit a sweater
Sweaters are one of the best things ever. Even though it’s February meaning it’ll most likely be 95 degrees tomorrow you can still use the sweater next winter (especially if it is as cold as this year was). You don’t know how to knit? See 11.
We’re all sleep deprived from school, homework, extracurriculars, and our social lives (haha). As lame as it sounds use Friday to just sleep. The next morning you’ll feel great and can do any of these ideas I’ve talked about.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
