Some of the nominations include: Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Lizzo, Tyler The Creator, The Jonas Brothers and more!
About the Performers
Ariana Grande, who just ended her Sweetener/Thank U Next World Tour, was nominated for 5 Grammy nominations: Album Of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for thank u, next, Record Of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for “7 Rings” and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Boyfriend” with Social House. Grande has had a rough past couple of years with her grandfather’s death, her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller’s death, and the Manchester attack, but Grande is strong enough to pull through, which is an inspiration to her fans.
“I love how Ariana Grande is promoting a lot of self-love, and female empowerment which is always a positive thing,” Monica Martinez (10) said. “And I think her Grammy nominations are really well deserved since she did come out with a good album with big hits like thank u, next. When I saw her live it was really fun because I was with my older sister and I think since it was the second concert I’ve been to, that made the experience special being with an artist that I like and with a lot of songs I knew. There was a lot of high energy in the venue and all around me and it was an enjoyable experience, she’s a great performer.” -Monica Martinez (10).
Lizzo has had a very successful year and has the most nominations than any other artist with a total of 8. Lizzo has a strong mindset on body positivity and expresses this in her songs, and to her fans in concert. Her songs “Truth Hurts” and “Good as Hell” are how she got discovered and she is now doing extremely well in her music career.
“Many new and popular celebs such as Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes that we look up to religiously and more artists influence our everyday decisions, mindset and simple things in our lifestyle. I personally admire Lizzo. She focuses primarily on self-love and inspires everyone to appreciate themselves and have self-confidence.” -Sophia Gutierrez (10)
Along with Lizzo, who primarily got recognized in 2018-2019, Eilish was nominated for 6 Grammys, including 4 in general categories for her hit song, “Bad Guy” and album When We All Asleep, Where Do We Go?. She won the Album of the Year award, making her the youngest artist at age 18, surpassing Taylor Swift and her album Fearless which she got awarded Album of the Year at age 20.
“I think Billie deserves at least 2 grammy awards, she’s very hardworking, she deserves recognition,” Talia Washington (10) said. “Her songs give you a chance as an outlet to connect to her songs don’t have a specific meaning, it’s like you choose what her words meant.”
-Talia Washington (10)
TYLER, THE CREATOR:
Tyler, the Creator announced on his Instagram that he will be performing at the Grammys, and he didn’t let his fans down. Tyler was nominated and won the Grammy for “Best Rap Album”, for his well known, and popular album “IGOR”.
“Tyler, the Creator has a lot of positivity, he is super cool,” Marisol Peters (10) said. “I think it’s really cool that he features smaller artists like how he’s helped Jaden Smith’s albums and helped Rex Orange County get big. I think he deserves the Grammy because he is a black artist who hasn’t won a Grammy before and has been big in the hip hop world for a few years.” -Marisol Peters (10)
THE JONAS BROTHERS
After their unexpected reunion as a music duo releasing their hit song “Sucker”.
In early March, The Jonas Brothers were Nominated for 1 grammy, Pop Duo.
“I think that the Jonas Brothers should win a Grammy for the best duo because all the songs they come out with are cool and super catchy. I think it’s super cool how The Jonas Brothers were really popular a couple of years ago and made an unforgettable comeback! -Lily Marquez (10)
