in ARS News/Art/Fine Arts by

On February 25, 2017, 35 ARS students competed in the Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) at San Marcos high school. VASE is a competition in which students enter art pieces to be judged on a scale of one to four, with four being the highest. Fifty-one art pieces ranging from traditional drawings, sculptures, or digital art were entered into the competition with participants being allowed two pieces at most. Out of the pieces that made fours, only a selected few are chosen to go on to State by a panel of judges. Karla Rodriguez’s (10) and Anais Arechiga’s (11) art pieces were selected to advanced to State competition.

When she is not furiously expressing herself through art and writing, Brenda can be found laughing with her friends about the randomest things. Brenda, now in her junior year, is beginning her second year on the Polaris Press staff, taking on a new role as Sports Editor. Brenda would consider herself as being a straightforward but complex-minded person. Brenda has a passion for history, superheros, and music, and she can’t wait for what the future might bring.
